Daniel Milhaud
Luciano left me many souvenirs.
Going together, in the sixties, to Lingueglietta, a village above Imperia where his sister had a house, he talked me into buying one myself shortly afterwards.
I went to Milan for the première of Passaggio that is dedicated to my father, Darius Milhaud. When he died in 1974, Luciano organized and directed a concert of his music at the Théâtre d'Orsay. Ex students of Milhaud, like Betsy Jolas and Gilbert Amy, sang, among others, in the chorus of La mort d'un Tyran. This concert was a big event and a great emotion, I was very touched by this act of fidelity.
My father admired Berio and always said he considered him the most important composer of his generation.
I am very grateful, dear Talia, for giving me this occasion of remembrance of a man I admired and love.
