Re-elaboration for solo viola written for Aldo Bennici. Unpublished manuscript bearing place and date of composition, 'Napoli, 20 marzo 1981', and the dedication ´a Aldo, con affetto / Luciano'. Concerning this transcription Bennici recalls that ´it saw the light of day in Napoli before a concert of mine. The Maestro drew up a stave on a sheet of paper and wrote an adaptation in no time at all [...] which I played as an encore at the end of my recital. For thirty years this piece was the soundtrack of a marvellous, highly precious friendship. Up to the very end.'

Definitive manuscript score of the 24th of the Duets for Two Violins, ´Aldo' (Aldo Bennici). On the manuscript, bearing the date of composition ´29 June 1981', the composer has acknowledged (in square brackets) his debt to the melody of E si fussi pisci (Paul Sacher Stiftung).

E si fussi pisci, an arrangement of the Sicilian folk song for four voices made by Berio in 2002. Manuscript conserved in the Paul Sacher Stiftung, Basel.
