Agnus (author's note)

Agnus
for two sopranos and three clarinets (1971)

Written in 1971 and scored for two female voices and three clarinets, Agnus is a chamber version of an episode from Opera (1969-1970) representing the slaughter of a group of children: Agnus evokes the mothers weeping for their children, but has no definite liturgical meaning, even if the text is taken from the liturgy: “Agnus dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis”.
