Rounds (author's note)

Rounds
for harpsichord (1966)

Rounds breaks up into four segments that are first played in contrasting registrations. The score is then turned upside down, thereby causing changes in pitch and timbre. Subsequently the player returns it to its first position but plays at a faster tempo.
All the possibilities offered by the harpsichord are exploited in this composition, from pedal effects to clusters through lute registrations. Rounds is a kind of firework of lines and timbres blended and ramified ad infinitum.
